  • A Club Called Rhonda has been forced to cancel its New Year's Eve party. News of the cancellation came over the Christmas break, just a week before the event was set to take place. A statement from Rhonda says that the venue, the Standard Hotel in Downtown LA, cancelled the event due to "operational issues." Another statement from The Standard uses the same phrase. Earlier this month, the hotel made international headlines after a late-night shooting that killed one person and injured several others, following an argument that began at a party inside the hotel. The Rhonda event would have been a large-scale, four-stage Rhondapolis takeover of The Standard making use of the entire hotel. Among the names booked were DJ Harvey, Jackmaster, xxxy, Dauwd, Avalon Emerson, Solar and L-Vis 1990. Organizers have promised that "guests who have already purchased tickets... will be receiving a refund automatically, and guests with room reservations will be contacted by The Standard."
