  • Samurai Red Seal will close up shop next February. Red Seal was originally set up in 2007 as an outlet for deeper and more experimental drum & bass compared to main parent label Samurai Music. Over time, however, the label's emphasis has shifted, particularly with the introduction of the even more experimental-leaning Samurai Horo, which often moves away from drum & bass altogether. To reflect the new state of affairs, founder Geoff Wright (AKA Presha) will consolidate Red Seal in with the main label, while Samurai Horo will re-branded as just Horo, a totally separate entity from the Samurai family. The final Red Seal release comes from ASC, one of the label's staunch regulars. It's a four-tracker called Space Echo, and it was made around the time that ASC and Wright were coming up with the between-genres Grey Area sound. In the words of the label: "these tracks show perfectly what has led to the cracking of the rhythmic code to link the 170 BPM tempo with a true techno aesthetic." In other Samurai news, Altar, one of the newer labels in Wright's orbit, will drop its second release at the same time. That one is another EP from Nastika, who inaugurated the imprint with its first release earlier this year. Tracklist ASC - Space Echo 01. Ignite 02. Space Echo 03. Reveal 04. Vanium Nastika - ALTAR002 01. Sacral 02. Blackstone 03. Transverse Plane - Divisions I + II Samurai Red Seal will release Space Echo, and Altar will release ALTAR002, on February 12th, 2016.
