Pete Tong launches Essential Mix Live in the US

- The new series will kick off in LA in January with a headline performance from Richie Hawtin.
- Pete Tong has announced a new US-based series of BBC Radio 1's Essential Mix Live, launching at LA's Exchange Club on Friday, January 22nd. Tong has been at the helm of the world-renowned mix show for 20 years, and in that time he's overseen live broadcasts from Ibiza and across the UK and Europe. Though sets have been streamed from the US in previous years, this will be the first event set-up especially for the show. Richie Hawtin will headline, with support from Pete Tong and Californian DJ Lee K. "The Essential Mix has always been about championing what’s new and next," says Tong. "So much has happened to electronic music in America in the last five years, and much of that change has been born out of LA, and the community of artists and industry professionals that live here."
