- Mike Gervais's Minneapolis party and label celebrates a half decade in operation next weekend.
Minneapolis techno party and label SYSTEM will celebrate its fifth anniversary at First Avenue & 7th Entry next Friday the 11th.
SYSTEM is the brainchild of Mike Gervais, a longtime local DJ and promoter. As a party it's hosted the likes of Regis, Speedy J, Anthony Parasole and Drumcell over the years, along with Minneapolis stalwarts like DVS1. More recently, Gervais has developed a label arm that's now home to three of his solo EPs, including On My Own, which dropped last month. (Earlier in the year, he was recruited for a track on a trio of records issued through DVS1's Mistress label.)
Flying in to headline next week's anniversary bash is Ben Sims, a UK techno mainstay and one of the scene's most prolific producers. Gervais will take to the decks as well at this one, where admission will be open to those 18 and up.
