  • Def Mix will release the Boyz! EP from Director's Cut, a collaboration between Frankie Knuckles and Eric Kupper, on November 30th. The Chicago house lynchpin passed away last spring, but "Boyz!" makes it to wax for the first time in late November. The cut features Jamie Principle, who voiced the iconic Knuckles' productions "Your Love" and "Baby Wants To Ride." Junior Boy's Own duo Farley & Heller kick off the new 12-inch with their dub of the track—the pair also remixed "Baby Wants To Ride" on a tribute EP which dropped earlier this year. The Director's Cut original appears on the B-side with a version by veteran NYC remixer David Morales rounding out the release. Proceeds from the Def Mix EP will be split between The Frankie Knuckles Foundation and The Frankie Knuckles Fund. The influential DJ's 5,000 strong record collection recently found a permanent home at Chicago's Stony Island Arts Bank. Listen to samples below.
