Good For You Records will throw an event called A Night At The Paradise Garage on December 19th at the Hollywood Palladium.
David Depino was a DJ at the legendary King Street club during a decade-long run that made Larry Levan one of the first superstar jocks. Llanos initially worked as Garage security but eventually slid into a role as one of Levan's relief DJs. Depino and Llanos continue to hold Paradise Garage tribute parties in NYC, and on the 19th, the duo will hit Hollywood for an event benefiting Gay Men’s Health Crisis, who hold the rights to the iconic Paradise Garage logo. Good For You records boss Kenny Summit, who is organizing the event along with LA radio station KCRW and XLR8R, is on opening duties along with an unannounced special guest.
In addition to donating the night's proceeds to Gay Men's Health Crisis, Good For You is preparing to release a charity double-vinyl compilation featuring the late Frankie Knuckles, Angel Morales and other key garage house artists. We'll have more details on that collection as they arrive.
