  • Jeff Mills and Derrick May will perform with the Melbourne Symphony Orchestra on January 30th, 2016. The two Detroit techno pioneers will perform individual sets with the ensemble. Mills will be presenting a brand new live work created with French composer and past collaborator Thomas Roussel, while May's offering will be titled "Music is Music." The event runs from dusk until 11 PM. It won't be the first time the MSO has linked up with acts from the dance world: Mills joined them on stage at Hamer Hall for "Light From Outside The World" as part of Melbourne Festival 2014, and Sydney duo Flight Facilities played with the Orchestra in front of 13,000 people at the Sidney Myer Music Bowl last month.
