  • Big Ears Festival has announced acts for its 2016 edition, which fills various Knoxville venues March 31st through April 2nd. The Tennessee event kicked off in 2009 and posits an interesting mix of downtown veterans, modern experimentalists, indie rock acts and electronic producers. This year's old guard bookings include Laurie Anderson and Philip Glass performing in duet, Tony Conrad and Faust's Outside The Dream Syndicate project and Ikue Mori. Nicolas Jaar and Andy Stott are also set to perform at Big Ears, as are Ben Frost and Hieroglyphic Being. Drone merchants Sunn O))) are on the bill—that group's Stephen O'Malley performed at 2014's Big Ears alongside Oren Ambarchi and Keiji Haino. Michigan noise lifters Wolf Eyes and Ólafur Arnalds will head to Knoxville as well. Check out the full lineup in the event listing, and watch Big Ears' 2015 in review film, below.
