- Brainfeeder will release Kneedelus in late November.
Daedelus has teamed up with quintet Kneebody for an LP on Brainfeeder in November.
Daedelus, AKA Alfred Darlington, is one of the godfathers of the LA beat scene. He's been releasing albums of frazzled, experimental-leaning hip-hop since the early 2000s. Kneebody, meanwhile, are an instrumental five-piece who formed around the same time that Darlington started making music, and their material slots in somewhere near the fusion end of the jazz spectrum. This is the first time Darlington has worked with them, and they'll release Kneedelus together, which Brainfeeder calls "a multi-headed beast straddling rock, jazz, and electronic music," exploring "the theory of technological singularity—the notion that humans and computer technology will increasingly blend together—in spirited and enterprising style."
Kneedelus follows other recent jazz-oriented excursions from the LA label, including Kamasi Washington's three-disc The Epic and a mini-album from Thundercat.
