  • Melbourne techno institution Teriyaki Anarki Saki has made hearts of its loyal fans skip a beat with the news the brand is set for a return. The posse's chequered history has seen them at more venues than we care to list, most recently at Billboards where they were unceremoniously dumped in January. It's been a long wait but now comes the news that the club is changing from its traditional weekly Thursday night format, to a monthly Friday night format at Room 680. This is certainly a choice that will raise a few eyebrows. The club's long standing and well documented problems with heat, smoke, staff, sound, and not least the infamous hot water in taps, mean that Room was perhaps not the obvious choice for the most passionate, dedicated crew in Melbourne. But if there's one thing Teriyaki has succeeded in over its 7 years, it has been overcoming every new obstacle. Known for their insane attention to detail, we know they will shatter any doubts we have about Room. From Tezza HQ: "We have carefully checked out the full range of venues available in Melbourne and purely as a premiere physical party space, Room is at least as good (and in many ways better) than anywhere in Melbourne to host Teriyaki parties, especially to contemplate the ideas we have for the future." We wish Tezza well in its new evolution and can't wait to see them destroy Room with their unique magical touch! The events will be priced around $20 and $30 for internationals. Here are the dates for 2003: Friday 30th May: Grand Re-opening. Friday 27th June: Teriyaki's great big f**k off 7th birthday bash. Friday 1st August Friday 29th August Friday 3rd October Friday 31st October Friday 28th November Friday 26th December: Teriyaki's great big f**k off Xmas Party Teriyaki: It's Arabic for 'We will prevail'!
