- Far removed from techno, the self-titled, self-released set of instrumentals is available now.
Singapore producer Xhin has just self-released a new album.
Xhin is best known by way of the tough, angular techno he's delivered to labels like Token, Semantica, Meerestief and of course Stroboscopic Artefacts—he has a longstanding connection with the latter imprint (and its head, Lucy), which is home to a handful of his records, including his 2011 album Sword. But this new one explores markedly different territory: described as a "very personal album" that represents "the other side of Xhin," it sees the artist crafting his own style of progressive metal with 11 instrumentals focused on guitars and drums and featuring plenty of synths and electronic embellishments.
The album is entirely a solo affair, Xhin having written, recorded and mastered it himself, and it comes through his own new, self-titled label as a digital release via Bandcamp. You can listen to the whole thing below.
