  • Opal Tapes has lined up its next few releases, which includes a new EP from Clouds called Sapporo NYE Crew (1995). The Scottish duo of Calum Macleod and Liam Robertson got our attention with a run of strong 12-inches on Turbo in 2012, culminating in their debut album Ghost Systems Rave the year after. Since then, they've been a bit more selective with their release schedule, dropping a few more records on Turbo as well as an EP on Overlee Assembly. On October 12th, they'll make their debut on Opal Tapes with Sapporo NYE Crew (1995), which comprises "overdriven live jams" recorded directly to tape, according to the label. ("Nasty," they add.) You can listen to "Eeccuuaaddoorr" below. The Middlesbrough concern also hinted at a grip of other new music, though full details are still forthcoming. There's Leave Of Absence from D.Å.R.F.D.H.S, Social Zombies from Son Of (an alias of Jupiter Jax), Preserving Senses from German Army and perhaps most notably, Dass II from Cubic Space Collective, which is sourced from 1992 demo tapes by the trio, which Opal describes as "Northeast England proto-primitive pushers." You can listen to tracks from all of those releases over at the Opal Tapes SoundCloud page.
