  • Robin Fox has a new album, A Small Prometheus, coming up on Editions Mego. The Melbourne-based experimental artist will return to Editions Mego a little over five years after A Handful Of Automation, his first audio-only solo record, which itself followed two collaborative LPs with Anthony Pateras (from 2006 and 2008) issued by the label. Fox has actually been quiet on the new release front over the past few years, though he's kept active with his own longstanding RGB audio-visual laser show and, more recently, teaming up with Atom™ for Double Vision performances. A Small Prometheus has its roots in another collaboration: according to the label, it "was developed as a soundtrack to a dance work of the same name, co-created with Australian choreographer Stephanie Lake." As the title might suggest, it's focused on "themes of combustion and heat dissipating in various physical systems," and we can expect "a very different audio world to that previously encountered [in Fox's music]." The album will come as a six-track vinyl LP, along with a digital version featuring two bonus tracks. Opening track "3 Phase" can be streamed below. Moving along into the final quarter of 2015, Editions Mego has also just announced plans for a new album from Anthony Child (AKA UK techno icon Surgeon), called Electronic Recordings from Maui Jungle Vol. 1, which will drop in November.
