- Julian Smith's first LP is on the way via Skudge White.
Swedish techno label Skudge Records has announced early information for October's debut album, Black Body Radiation.
The versatile, Bristol-based producer, AKA Julian Smith, has been at it for more than a decade. His gritty analog tracks and remixes (as a solo artist and as a collaborator) have come out on a range of labels, including Aus, Soul People Music and Voodoo Down Records, along with his own now-defunct Caravan Recordings and the TANSTAAFL imprint he runs with John Osborn. He's also previously connected with the Skudge label family: two of his solo records have come through Skudge Presents over the past few years, and before those, in 2011, he and Appleblim remixed Skudge themselves (at the time still a duo).
Black Body Radiation will come through the Skudge White offshoot. It comprises eight tracks that would seem to touch on techno, EBM, industrial and beyond, if the samples are any indicator—check them out below. An exact release date is still TBA.
