  • Brighton's Lighthouse has released full details of The Long Progress Bar, a two-day festival running across September 3rd and 4th. The event is an extension of Lighthouse's monthly Progress Bar nights, which invite artists from various fields of contemporary culture to share and discuss their creative practices. Thursday and Friday will be filled with a mix of talks, workshops, musical performances and screenings, all with the aim of exploring "new methods of empowerment through collective action, art and culture." Holly Herndon and Jam City are both on board, lining up alongside economists Paul Mason and Guy Standing, American artist and writer Zach Blas and award-winning graphic novelist Warren Ellis among others. Opening at 1 PM, the Thursday programme will feature six hours of talks and a final hour of performances, including a set from Jam City. On the Friday, guests have the chance to meet and converse with some of the featured artists via a series of "caffeine-fuelled conversations, informal ask-me-anything sessions and workshops." Herndon will lead one of these workshops. Doors will run from 10 AM through 4 PM. The Long Progress Bar forms part of the Brighton Digital Festival 2015.
