  • Evian Christ was detained by security guards at Leeds Festival over the weekend. The producer, real name Joshua Leary, took to Facebook today to recount the predicament. In the post, Leary describes being held in a makeshift cage after security accused him of trying to enter the festival site without a ticket. According to Leary, he had been searching for his car in a "sprawling" backstage carpark after finishing his set. Upon approaching nearby security guards for help, his artist ID was confiscated and he was placed inside a "weird area with a cage." Leary was reportedly held there for some time before being released, but not before posting a short video to Twitter. He also cancelled an upcoming performance at Reading. You can read Leary's full statement over at his Facebook page. There has been no official response from Leeds Festival organisers, other than what was said in a short interview with NME. "Evian was found in a not very good state in the woods, without being able or willing to disclose who he was," festival boss Melvyn Benn says. "He was effectively held till we knew who he was. He certainly wasn't prevented from performing under any circumstances. It was his decision not to perform, not the festival's."
