  • Camel Audio's Alchemy synth has found a new life in Logic. Back in February, we reported that Apple appeared to have purchased the plug-in maker, though there was no word on exactly what the acquisition would mean for either party. Now, with Apple's announcement of a Logic Pro 10.2 update, the outcome is clear: Alchemy is now a part of Logic, and it comes to the DAW in updated and thoroughly integrated form. The soft synth features some 3,000 presets, an update to the synth engine, redesigned filters, formant resynthesis, a granular mode, integration with Logic's EXS24 sampler and more. If you're already a Logic user, Alchemy is free as part of the new Logic update. And as FACT notes, it costs less to buy Logic (featuring Alchemy) than it once did to buy Alchemy as a standalone soft synth.
