- Depatterning, out in September, is Jack Gibbons' first LP.
Tectonic will release Ipman's first full-length, Depatterning, on September 25th.
Originally from Herefordshire, Jack Gibbons started out making dubstep-influenced productions with Killawatt, before he was tapped for one of the early releases on Tectonic boss Pinch's Cold Recordings back in 2013. Since then, he's appeared on Pressed, Artikal and Boka, and earlier this year made his debut on Tectonic with "Regicide," which also appears on Depatterning.
According to the label, Gibbons worked on Depatterning for two years. Heavily influenced by both jungle and techno, it was written with "granular and modular synths, rewiring drum machines and mangling sounds with hardware." Gibbons explains: "I like to create music by experimenting with new ideas and mechanics and letting tracks evolve, and this was no different. I had a pretty free reign and just tried new things and looked at the results."
