  • Detroit crew Interdimensional Transmissions will throw their next party at Tangent Gallery on Friday, July 31st. The event is called Persuasive Percussion, and it draws inspiration from the 1959 LP from Terry Snyder and The All Stars on Command Records. (With artwork from Josef Albers, it was the first of an influential series of audiophile records, whose space-age easy-listening instrumentals also served to test stereo sound equipment.) Atop the lineup is Atom™, AKA Uwe Schmidt, the adventurous producer who featured on RA's Machine Love series earlier this month. On the release front, he's put out a couple compilations recently: one for the No Ware label he runs alongside Material Object, and one for some of his mid-'90s Atom Heart material. He'll play a "hypnotic, percussive, acidic" 90-minute live set, according to IT. Also confirmed, and playing after Atom™, is Karl Meier, the tuned-in Chicago DJ who's been increasingly busy with solo gigs and work as half of the duo Talker. (Talker remixed Israel Vines on the IT sublabel Eye Teeth's second record.) Label bosses Erika and BMG will handle warm-up, and, as usual IT's Amber Gillen will be taking care of the evening's visual art. Tickets to Persuasive Percussion are available here on RA.
