- From The Land Of Rape & Honey (The Suppressed Tapes) 1995 - 2005 will arrive in September.
Detroit label Interdimensional Transmissions is preparing an archival compilation of tracks from Jamal Moss's I.B.M. project, titled From The Land Of Rape & Honey (The Suppressed Tapes) 1995 - 2005.
The intrepid Chicago artist and Mathematics label head puts out his oft-unpredictable music by way of a handful of aliases. You might know him best as Hieroglyphic Being, a name through which he's delivered nearly three dozen records over the past seven years or so. The I.B.M. (which stands for Insane Black Man) alias has been less prolific, at least in terms of official releases. Up until now, Moss has taken to the name for only a few EPs—including one, Kill Bill, put out on IT back in 2005 and reissued last month—and last year's Eat My Fuck LP.
From The Land Of Rape & Honey ventures deep into the world of Insane Black Man. Ten tracks crafted between 1995 and 2005 have been uncovered from "shoeboxes of cassettes, video tapes, and mini discs," and carefully restored and mastered. They're due out in September on a double-vinyl pack as well as digital formats.
Along with sorting out this I.B.M. retrospective, Interdimensional Transmissions has kept busy with Eye Teeth, its new sub-label focused on new, experimental American techno. Eye Teeth just issued a remixes EP featuring Silent Servant, Talker and IT boss BMG, based off its inaugural record from Israel Vines.
