  • Detroit's free, all-ages Tec-Troit Electronic Music Festival will return later this month, running June 19th through the 21st. First started in 2011 and inspired by the free early editions of DEMF (now known as Movement), Tec-Troit sets up downtown at Harmonie Park and, as its name suggests, focuses on talent from the Detroit area. There's a good cause involved, too—the festival partners with Ravers Against World Starvation, or R.A.W.S, a local group that collects food for needy families. Attendees are encouraged to bring canned and non-perishable goods to donate. As usual, the festival—now in its fifth year—features internationally known favorites alongside plenty of local stalwarts, longtime jocks and newer names, with techno and house making up much of the weekend's program. Terrence Dixon (playing live), Stacey Hale, Annie Hall, MGUN and Kevin Reynolds are all confirmed, as are Robert Armani, DJ Minx, Kero and members of the Detroit Techno Militia. Jay Denham, Monty Luke, Just Alexander and festival co-founder DJ Roach also count among Tect-Troit's 70 plus artists. Notably, the Saturday lineup boasts only vinyl DJs (hence the name Revenge of Vinyl). You can check time slots on the event page below.
