Morphine Records has an album on the way from Pauline Oliveros and Ione, titled Water Above Sky Below Now.
Water Above Sky Below Now is the fourth overall release from Rabih Beaini's label in 2015, and it follows along after Buchla obsessive Charles Cohen's well-reviewed Brother I Prove You Wrong LP. Yet another unconventional release, the album is the latest joint effort from two multidisciplinary artists who have been working together since the 1980s, both of whom are known by way of the Deep Listening Institute. Oliveros, the founder of DLI and a pioneering avant-garde composer whose own career spans more than 60 years, performs with a specially tuned accordion, harmonica and electronics, while Ione, DLI's artistic director, contributes vocals and spoken word pieces. On Water Above..., they've crafted a three-part soundscape that stretches across nearly 40 minutes.
