  • The Standard Hotel Rooftop will begin its busy summer season in earnest with a headlining set from Todd Terry this Friday. The rooftop, which includes two bars, a pool, daybeds and a small dancefloor, has long been a regular spot for day and night parties, hosting acts like Juan Atkins and Justin Vandervolgen over the past year or so. The venue, which is required to keep sound below a certain decibel level due to its location in the heart of downtown, has reportedly mounted a serious upgrade in that department, installing a Funktion-One rig. Memorial Day indicates the unofficial start of summer, and the long weekend brings a full lineup on the rooftop. NYC house legend Todd Terry will spin a set with support from busy local jock Dirty Dave on Friday night. Saturday brings the debut of a new party series called Sunblock. For their first poolside event, they've brought in the Fade to Mind crew. Label boss Kingdom and Total Freedom lead the charge. Sunblock also has appearances from Detroit Swindle and Jackmaster confirmed for later this summer. RA's Andrew Ryce spoke with Total Freedom about his unique approach earlier this year. Check out the interview here. Tickets to Sunblock are available here on RA.
