  • Nicolas Jaar has written the music for Oscar-nominated director Jacques Audiard's new film, Dheepan. Dheepan, drawing inspiration from Montesquieu’s Persian Letters, follows a Tamil soldier, a woman and a girl who flee the Sri Lankan civil war and end up in a housing project outside Paris. The film will premiere at the Cannes Film Festival, which begins mid-month, as reported by FACT. In the past, Audiard's worked with film composer Alexandre Desplat, who holds an Oscar for his work on Wes Anderson's The Grand Budapest Hotel. For his part, Jaar's made serious forays towards cinema music as of late, recently composing an alternative score for the 1969 avant-garde film The Color Of Pomegranates. The ex-Darkside man's first solo 12-inch in four years also dropped yesterday.
