  • Dais Records will put out a remastered version of Hunting Lodge's Will on May 26th. The Port Huron group formed in the early '80s, the project of Full Moon Records employee Lon Diehl and a regular customer, Richard Skott. The pair bonded over a mutual love of industrial groups such as Throbbing Gristle and SPK and initially founded their label S/M Operations to issue a fanzine centered around such music. Eventually, they staged some performances, occasionally with another member, Karl Nordstrom. The group made some live recordings, pressed up some limited cassettes and were eventually convinced to make more directed studio recordings by German label Datenverarbeitung. "Drawing references from Crowley, Nietzsche and G. Gordon Liddy," the label says, "Hunting Lodge collaged together industrial percussion patterns, live recordings, early sketches and synthesized noise into nine compositions which also included vocal appearances by (Datenverarbeitung owner) Andreas Muller, Francisco Lopez and Masami Akita, AKA Merzbow." Dais credits Hunting Lodge's abrasive '80s recordings as inspiration for a long-running tradition of Michigan experimental music, epitomized by the Wolf Eyes/American Tapes scene. Tracklist 1.
