- DJ Deep is re-formatting his label with the release of records credited to all-new aliases.
DJ Deep's Paris-based imprint Deeply Rooted is taking a new approach with its upcoming records.
Deeply Rooted (known as Deeply Rooted House before a name change in 2013 to reflect its wider-ranging output) has already started the new project with its first record of 2015: the recently-issued Mood Module EP from Insolate, AKA Croatian producer Miss Sunshine. For each instalment, the artist involved picks a new alias, which will appear exclusively on Deeply Rooted, and connects with French sculptor Daniel Poirout, choosing one of his pieces for use as the record's artwork. DJ Deep puts it this way: "As the artists have worked so hard and kindly given me their music, I wanted to find a way to keep each release very unique to the label."
Following on from that Insolate 12-inch, two more EPs have been confirmed. Roman Poncet will take on the moniker Redspecs for Absent, which is due out in June. Then Poncet will once again team up with DJ Deep. The duo dropped two records on Tresor under the name Adventice earlier this year, and also have material upcoming on Desire Records by way of the alias Sergie Rezza. Next, they'll collaborate as Fang, a house-leaning project, for Deeply Rooted's 50th overall release, A House "Fang"—pictured above is the artwork for that one. There's more records to come in this format of "aliases and avatars," and DJ Deep's ultimate goal is a bring them all together with a compilation.
