  • Unsound Toronto will take place for the first time on June 19th and 20th. The experimental-leaning festival has been gradually expanding from its original base from Krakow, setting up shop in New York, London and Adelaide over the past few years. Toronto is its next stop, and the two-day programme will unfold as part of a larger festival called Luminato. It'll take place at the Hearn Generating Station in the Toronto Port Lands. The first night features Kranky ambient duo Stars Of The Lid and Robert Henke presenting a sequel to his Lumière project. At the beginning and end of the night Tim Hecker will be premiering a new show called Ephemera, where he'll work with a perfumer and a lighting artist to "let the physical presence of scent and sound trigger emotions," according to the festival. The second evening will offer performances from Morton Subotnick—who will play his 1967 album Silver Apples Of The Moon live—and Atom TM, who will team up with Robin Fox for their audiovisual Double Vision show. Ben Frost is also, with more names promised in the coming months.
