  • Karizma and DJ Spen will play back-to-back for House On The Eastside in Downtown LA on May 2nd. Karizma, the Baltimore-raised house music veteran born Chris Clayton, is going strong after 20-plus years in the game. He's been working with London-based R2 records over the past decade, releasing his weighty Wall Of Sound LP via the label in 2013 and following it up with Hear And Now, a collaborative EP with Osunlade, last year. Clayton works as The Basement Boys with his co-headliner DJ Spen. Together, the duo helm Basement Boys Recordings and function as a prolific remix unit, having reworked artists from Crystal Waters to Erykah Badu. The soulful house duo are set to make their joint LA debut. House On The Eastside will also bring in Chicago house staple Gene Farris for the May event, along with a number of local jocks well-versed in deep, soulful sounds. West Coast Soul's Tony Powell is on support, as is Kristi Lomax, who helms the weekly One Track Mind show on KPFK. Dane Styles and House On The Eastside's Larry Espinosa round out the lineup.
