- The krautrock label will issue the group's self-titled LP in May.
Die Wilde Jagd will release their self-titled debut album through Bureau B on May 1st.
Back in January, RA's Aaron Coultate wrote on the small, musically adventurous club Salon Des Amateurs in Dusseldorf. It so happens that Die Wilde Jagd, a duo who looks back on krautrock forefathers Kraftwerk and NEU! as well as '80s groups like DAF and Liaisons Dangereuses for inspiration, met at the heady nightspot. One-half of Die Wilde Jagd, Ralf Beck, has worked with former Kraftwerk member Karl Bartos, while his counterpart, Sebastian Lee Philipp, plays in an electro-pop group called Noblesse Oblige.
The band took their name from a myth which tells of "raucous, jeering hunters from the netherworld," and use various analog synths to create their own neo-krautrock "hunting music." The duo has found a fitting home on Bureau B, a Hamburg-based label that has reissued records by Cluster, Michael Rother and Harald Grosskopf along with ongoing groups like Kriedler.
