  • Lee Burridge and Matthew Dekay's All Day I Dream has announced the first part of its summer schedule, beginning at Coachella in a couple weeks and wrapping in Berlin in late August. ADID started in 2011 on a rooftop in Brooklyn, but quickly migrated to open air environments outside of LA, not far from Burning Man, where Burridge and Dekay's melancholy sound truly flourished. Just a few years later, the event has drawn a devoted following of "dreamers," and the duo run a record label of the same name. In 2015, Lee and friends are poised to take part in a number of large-scale festivals. Burridge, Dekay and close ADID associate Hoj will throw a party off-Coachella on April 11th. Lee and friends will hit San Francisco's Treasure Island on June 7th, and the next week the crew will bring the blue sky vibe back to Brooklyn for an event called All Day I Dream Of Brooklyn Blue. As mentioned, ADID will return to Barcelona's Sonar for an engagement at the ZT Hotel Villa Olimpica. Late July and August has the crew rolling through the Netherlands, Paris and London, with the summer schedule wrapping in Berlin. The party's strong aesthetic has convinced compelled many promoters to give All Day I Dream carte blanche to program stages or book support acts that bear out the ADID aesthetic. Maher Daniel, YokoO, Powel, Gorje, Izhevski and Mike Khoury are among those scheduled to join the founding duo this season. We spoke to Burridge and Dekay on the growth of the party and their plans for the year:
How would you explain what makes ADID events so special to someone who's never been? Matthew Dekay: The majority of our fan base are people that have been or are currently planning to go to Burning Man. Lee Burridge: [All Day I Dream has] always been a word of mouth event. Friends invited friends and the crowd grew organically. I think my ties with Burning Man and its community has also helped shape who's found us. I love our crowd, they kind of make the party actually. How do you decide which venues (and cities) are a good match for ADID? LB: I initially started the events in the USA as my own career had been growing there steadily. As both [New York and LA] are so densely populated, it means finding venues has been a challenge. Luckily New York still has industrial areas that aren't yet developed and LA has ranches, so we've found some great spots. This year sees a run of European parties for ADID. How did last year's debut EU showcase in Barcelona go? LB: I'm sure Matthew Dekay will agree with me that it was a strong start. The event was sold out and we would have gone on long into the night. MD: The previous ADID parties have always been done internally. This was our first collaboration with an external promoter. It was a trial for us as the opportunity came about and we wanted to see what could happen in Europe. We were really overwhelmed with the response. People are still contacting me eight months later telling me how much they loved the event. I’m really excited we have the chance to throw the party again this year at the same venue and actually put our full production into it. What else does 2015 hold for Lee Burridge, Matthew Dekay & co? LB: I'm happy to say that the label is going to be releasing music on a more consistent basis. Matthew will be joining me for his first Burning Man experience while I celebrate my tenth, and as we’ve been discussing, All Day I Dream will be happening in Europe over summertime as well as launching in San Francisco for the first time.
