  • Vince Clarke is entering the Eurorack modular market. A veteran of venerable synth-pop acts like Yaz/Yazoo and Depeche Mode, Clarke amassed a large synthesizer collection over the years. His experience with the instruments inspired his eponymous company's first product. "For those who work with synthesizers using CV and gate," he writes in the press release, "you will all be aware of the problems of calibration. Having tried many a cumbersome software-based package over the years, I wondered if there might be a neater solution—a kind of all-in-one MIDI-to-CV converter with auto-calibration." The result is the Clarke Auto Tune system, which is made up of one master module controlling up to 16 secondary modules that each output one channel of CV/gate. You connect the synthesizer's waveform via a VCO input on the main module; then, pressing the button labeled Tune on each slave module automatically tunes the synthesizer. You can read more about how it works and dive into the specs on Clarke's website. Auto Tune is now available from Clarke for £189.00 for the master module and £189.00 for each slave module.
