  • Melbourne techno institution Teriyaki Anarki Saki is yet again without a venue. Frontman and DJ Slack is disgusted, saying they have been "shafted by Billboard". He released this statement: "We thought we were going to be invited back to Billboard after they renovated, but we don't make them a million dollars a year so we've been SHAFTED. Incredible isn't it, how you can put your heart and soul into something and just get walked all over when someone rich comes along. Anyway we're young enough and definately tough enough to withstand this (yet one more) challenge. "All I can say for now is a great big sorry to our loyal fans... we want to keep doing this great club, but we need a home." Teriyaki has a loyal fanbase, perhaps not as big as Billboard's capacity, but passionate as hell. The stalwart club consistently brought Melbourne quality internationals in 2002, and every success they had they richly deserved. Speaking exclusively to residentadvisor, Dee Dee had this to say: "We have been kicked out completely as of today, very uncerimoniously... we've, yet again, been shafted and are on the look out for a new venue." And of the return of Justin Berkovi, which was scheduled for February 13? "We will no longer be doing anything with him: we have nowhere to put him." From Hi-Fi, to the Velvet Lounge, to Billboard, and more. The search for a new venue is not a new challenge for Teriyaki, a brand that has prevailed through so much. Here at residentadvisor, we wish the Tezza crew all the best for this latest battle, one we're sure they're going to win.
