  • John Roberts has started his own label, Brunette Editions. The American artist told Inverted Audio that Brunette Editions won't just release music—it'll be "an abstract outlet for music, printed matter, recordings and books." It's a natural move for Roberts, who juggles his own musical career with an editing role at a magazine called The Travel Almanac. "The concept of the label is completely freeform," Roberts says. "I don't have a strict policy with anything. If something unique comes along, no matter what medium, I would be open to releasing it as long as I have a personal connection with the individual who produced it and it made sense to me within the general aesthetic of the project." The first release on Brunette Editions is a solo record from Roberts, followed by a "multi-media edition" later in 2015. Roberts says the new label won't affect his relationship with Dial Records—he revealed he has an album in the works for the Hamburg label. A Brunette Editions party will take place at Stattbad in Berlin on Friday, April 10th, with Roberts joined by Isolee and Pawel.
