  • Planet Mu will reach into the archives of Chicago producer RP Boo for Classics. The UK label says that the tracks—mostly sourced from the late '90s and the turn of the millennium—help to chart the development of ghetto house into what would become footwork. Most of them are technically unreleased—some appeared on Dance Mania white labels, "02-05-03" is a 2003 remix of "11-47-99," also known as "The Godzilla Track" (which was released in 2001 under DJ Slugo's name but was nevertheless written and produced entirely by RP Boo) while "Try 2 Break (Remix)" originally appeared on a mixtape he dropped in collaboration with the late DJ Rashad in 1999. The tracks are a bit slower than what would footwork would later develop into but make use of many of the same sample sources, including Mariah Carey's "Fantasy" and Class Action's "Weekend." The EP, titled Classics Vol. 1 in full, is presumably part of a new series.
