  • Jeno and Garth, founding members of San Francisco's Wicked Sound System, will play back-to-back at Acabar on March 1st. Wicked is credited with bringing sound system culture to early '90s San Francisco. Jeno and Garth first met in the scene that congregated around the UK's Tonka Hi-Fi parties, a milieu which also included a young DJ Harvey. Garth was the first to make the move to the Bay Area, with Jeno and Tonka members Thomas Bullock and Markie following. The foursome began to throw open-air parties in beaches and parks around the city. Garth recently told Test Pressing, "By the third anniversary we had at least 3000 on the beach, Rolling Stone Magazine coverage and Highway 1 had to be closed down until the party wound down. Decades later, Garth lives in LA, Jeno remains in San Fran, but both remain quite active. At Acabar, they'll man one turntable each for the entirety of the six-hour session.
