  • Huntleys + Palmers has revealed details of Highlife World Series, a run of records that sees label artists Auntie Flo and Esa travel widely to collaborate on music. The first instalment is the result of the duo's trip to Cuba in early 2014 to perform at the Havana World Music Festival. Inspired by Mala's 2013 album Mala In Cuba, they decided to stay in town after the festival and spend time in a local studio working with vocalists and musicians. "We didn't know who we would see at the studio but were pleasantly surprised that a handful of musicians we'd met had made it—amazing talent on trumpet, vocals, percussion and keys," says Auntie Flo, real name Brian d'Souza. The four-track EP features contributions from Eric Alejandro (vocals), Yissy (percussion), Julio Rigal (trumpet) and Jorge Aragon Brito (keys). Future instalments in the Highlife World Series will showcase Auntie Flo and Esa's collaborations with musicians from Kenya and Uganda. All profits from the records go back towards supporting musicians in the countries where the music was made. Listen to a preview of Highlife World Series: Cuba below.
