  • A film about Frankie Knuckles and the early days of Chicago house is in the works. Titled The Warehouse, the movie is being produced by Bob Teitel, who's previous films include Men Of Honor and Barbershop; Billy Dec, who will also act in the movie; Randy Crumpton; and Smart Bar's Joe Shanahan. Not much is known aboutThe Warehouse just yet, though a press release says it'll "pay tribute to the life story of The Warehouse owner Robert Williams and the legacy of Knuckles's timeless artistry." "Growing up in Chicago, I always knew about The Warehouse and its ties to house/dance music," says Teitel. "What amazes me is what started as a fad in a small Chicago club in the late seventies has evolved into the biggest genre of music in the world." A launch party for the film will take place at The Underground in Chicago on Tuesday, March 31st—exactly one year on from Knuckles' death. All of the ticket proceeds will go to the Frankie Knuckles Foundation.
