  • Jeff Mills will stage a performance of his soundtrack for the 1929 silent film Woman In The Moon at San Francisco's Kanbar Hall this Friday. Mills debuted the soundtrack (which he calls a cine-mix) back in 2012 at an ADE event. In 2013, he spoke to The Skinny on his motivation for the project: "I was slightly aware of the film,” says Mills. “Fritz Lang's other work, like Metropolis and M, I was more knowledgeable about. They thought that perhaps The Woman In The Moon would be more interesting, because I am quite fond of space, space travel, science fiction and things like that.” Friday marks the audiovisual show's U.S. premiere. Many of Mills' works have had a celestial focus, such as his 1992 album X-102 Discovers The Rings of Saturn. In 2000, he recorded a soundtrack to another Fritz Lang sci-fi film, Metropolis. Early last year, Mills starred in French director Jacqueline Caux's Man From Tomorrow, and he provided a score for that work as well.
