  • This year's edition of Amsterdam music and visual arts festival Sonic Acts will run from Thursday, February 26th through Sunday, March 1st. Sonic Acts has been taking place since 1994, making it one of Amsterdam's longest-running arts festivals. Parties, which are held at Paradiso, make up just a small portion of the programme—a variety of talks, lectures and exhibitions make up the rest of the schedule. Music highlights in 2015 include a set from Paul Purgas & James Ginzburg of Emptyset on Friday the 27th, and appearances from Shackleton, SHXCXCHCXSH, Jacaszek & Kwartludium, Burnt Friedman & Jaki Liebezeit and the debut of a new A/V show from Shapednoise on the 28th. Stedelijk Museum will host the festival's opening party on February 26th, headlined by Florian Hecker. Many of the festival's happenings in 2015 will be centred around a theme: The Geologic Imagination. Participants include composers, music theorists, philosophers, historians and other academics. A preview of Shapednoise's new A/V show, a collaboration with sYn, is streaming below.
