- The midday events, nine in all, will happen at the city's Cultural Center and Millennium Park's Wrigley Square.
Chicago's Department of Cultural Affairs and Special Events, or DCASE, has announced a schedule of nine Wired Fridays for the coming months.
Wired Fridays is a free mid-day, lunch break dance music series open to all ages. These upcoming events will take place on a bi-weekly basis at two public venues in the city's downtown area. The first five will happen inside the Chicago Cultural Center (pictured), on the first floor's Randolph Square, and—weather permitting—the final four will set up shop just across Michigan Avenue in Millennium Park's Wrigley Square. Each event will run from noon to 1 PM. (Be sure to arrive on time—given that these are public events, they're unlikely to extend much later.)
There's plenty of house and a couple dashes of techno in the programming this season, with some residents at Smart Bar among the nine DJs due to appear. This Friday, NBFC and Planet Chicago resident Sassmouth will get it started in the Cultural Center, where Andre Hatchett, Garrett David, Mike Dunn and Equator Club are each booked for sets in February and March. Steve "Miggedy" Maestro and Sundance are the DJs for April, and the series winds down (for now) in May with sets from Gramaphone boss Michael Serafini and Samone from Changes and Hugo Ball.
