- The UK artist will release his first album as Beat Spacek through Ninja Tune later this month.
Steve Spacek's Beat Spacek project will debut with an album on January 26th.
Beat Spacek is the newest endeavour from the man born Steve White (brother to Darren White, AKA dBridge), first debuted with a single-track 12-inch back in 2013. It's the latest chapter in a varied, decade-long career that includes stints as part of Spacek and Africa Hitech as well as solo work as Steve Spacek and Black Pocket.
Modern Streets, his first solo full-length since 2007's Steve Spacek Presents Black Pocket The Album on Exit Records, takes inspiration from both the past and the future. It was made almost entirely with iPad and iPhone apps, but it also reflects on White's history growing up in London's New Cross neighbourhood. Looking back to the "melting pot" of the Flim-Flams club frequented by White, Modern Streets reportedly touches on new wave, post-punk and even Ghanaian highlife music. Like many of White's past releases, it'll land on Ninja Tune.
