- The much-loved and highly influential Curtain Road club will host its last party this weekend.
- London's Plastic People nightclub is closing. The club's manager, Charlotte Kepel, told Resident Advisor: "We will not open again in 2015. Plastic People had great runs both on Oxford Street and Curtain Road." She added: "A fabulous time was had and it felt right to move on." The small, dimly-let venue with a booming sound system has been a central cog in UK dance music for two decades. Plastic People moved to Curtain Road in Shoreditch in 2000—before that it was located on Oxford Street. It was a long-time home to foundational dubstep night FWD>> and broken beat party Co-Op. In more recent times it's hosted Floating Points and his You're A Melody event, while Theo Parrish has been a long-term resident. The final public event at Plastic People will happen on Friday, January 2nd. The following night the club's "friends and family" will gather for a party called Last Dance, with a lineup that features Floating Points, Abdul Forsyth, Benny Blanco, Paul Camo and Sean McAuliffe.
