  • TBA Brooklyn remains closed after being shut down by the NYC Department of Buildings last month. The electronic music hotspot—which has seen sets from DJ Qu, Kevin Saunderson and Gerd Janson this year—was shut down after a multi-agency inspection in late November. According to a statement made on their GoFundMe page, where they are raising money to pay for costs incurred by the shutdown, the Department of Buildings ordered the closure after discovering that the bar lacked a sprinkler system. "We will need multiple inspections scheduled promptly but the timing and findings of these inspections remains largely out of our control," they explain, adding that their current building plans—approved by the Department of Buildings—specifically indicate that no sprinkler system is required. "Until the authorities are completely satisfied and convey their sign-off across departments, we are not allowed to operate." The venue will open "as soon as [they] are legally permitted to do so," the statement continues, and in the mean time they will host a fundraiser at the nearby Good Room in Greenpoint. Over 30 local DJs, including Bunker New York's Bryan Kasenic, Scissor & Thread's Anthony Collins and Blkmarket resident Fahad, will spin at the event, which goes from 5PM to 4AM on Thursday, December 18th. There is a $20 suggested donation, and to donate online you can head over to their GoFundMe page.
