  • For the second year in a row, A Club Called Rhonda will host its Rhondapolis NYE bash at the Standard Hotel's downtown location. The event caps a year which saw Rhonda host everyone from Sophie to Giorgio Moroder, all in the name of "polysexual hard partying." For the four-stage affair—which includes the hotel lobby and rooftop—they've enlisted Hot Chip for a DJ set, and have invited techno originator Derrick May back for a second NYE turn. Rhonda is also bringing in Omar S from the Motor City, as well as Detroit expat turned jetsetting LA resident Jimmy Edgar. A number of Angeleno mainstays fill out the bill, including Stones Throw stalwarts Peanut Butter Wolf and J Rocc, rising LA producer SONNS and Rhonda regular James Del Barco. Martyn is also set to spin, while the programming skews towards nu-disco and melodic house elsewhere—DFA act Wolfram will play, as will Perseus and Motorbass member Etienne De Crecy. All 207 rooms at the hotel will be rented to attendees, and the price of admission includes an open bar throughout the evening.
