- Sam Shepherd's new imprint will channel the spirit of his You're A Melody club night.
Floating Points has revealed plans to start a new Eglo sublabel called Melodies.
The producer, real name Sam Shepherd, revealed the news on NTS Radio today. He says the offshoot will "celebrate anthems" from the You're A Melody night he runs at Plastic People in London. The You're A Melody parties see Shepherd wheel out vintage EMT turntables and, along with a friend or two (past guests include Jeremy Underground Paris, Hunee and Love On The Run) spin an evening's worth of soul, disco and boogie records. Shepherd, who finished at # 50 in the RA poll of 2014's best DJs, says Melodies will reissue Taxie's "Rock Don't Stop," which first came out in 1979. You can listen to it below.
The next You're A Melody night takes place on Thursday, December 11th, at Plastic People in London.
