  • US house and techno institution Ovum Recordings has just put out its 250th release, which comes courtesy of veteran Scottish producer Vince Watson. Along with claiming that landmark catalog number, the Deja Vu EP signals the end of Ovum's 20th-anniversary celebrations—the label has put out a run of records this year from Chymera, Sebastian Mullaert and Ovum boss Josh Wink, among others, to mark the occasion. It's also the Ovum debut for Watson, whose well-loved melodic techno has appeared on labels like Delsin, Tresor, Cocoon and Poker Flat. He's turned in two original cuts, "Deja Vu" and "Illusion," the latter of which gets a "Re-Think" from Wink, along with beatless and ambient digital-only mixes of the title track. The EP is making its way to digital outlets now, and the vinyl version will presumably come in the near future. Ovum has a SoundCloud playlist with samples of all five tracks, and you can give "Deja Vu" a try below. (You can also hear it starting out this new podcast from Watson for Data Transmission.)
