  • The Big Ears Festival has made the first lineup announcement for its 2015 edition, taking place the weekend of March 27th in Knoxville, Tennessee. Next year's artists-in-residence are San Francisco's Kronos Quartet, who will perform Landfall, their collaboration with Laurie Anderson, as well as pieces featuring Nels Cline, Bryce Dessner and Tanya Tagaq. Ambient music heavyweights Terry Riley and Harold Budd are also scheduled to appear, the latter with bassist Keith Lowe. Jamie xx, Grouper, Ben Frost, Demdike Stare, Holly Herndon and Nosaj Thing are also on the bill. Big Ears, which began in 2009, is operated by AC Entertainment, a promotions company that also puts on Bonnaroo. The weekend's events will be held at the Tennessee Theater, the Bijou Theater, the Square Room and Knoxville Museum Of Art. A portion of the proceeds will go to the Joy Of Music School and Community School Of The Arts. Check out highlights from the 2014 festival below.
