  • NYC's newest dance club, Good Room, has opened at the former site of Club Europa in Greenpoint, Brooklyn. The renovated bar—which sits just a few blocks north of the larger Verboten and Output nightclubs—has already hosted sets from DFA's Nancy Whang, as well as Morgan Geist and Juan Maclean. The space consists of two intimate dance floors, a bar and a side room, all designed by veteran club designer Steve Lewis, who's also responsible for the layout of Marquee New York. "We see most of the places here in Brooklyn right now as venues," says Good Room's creative director Emily Bachman. "We're looking to create a real nightclub experience fused with a Williamsburg/Greenpoint local bar." "Ultimately the environment we want is a good place for our friends to call home," Bachman continues. "We've been careful thus far on who we have been booking and who we are inviting in, and we've had a series of 'surprise guest' DJs because we don't want people to worry about who is playing." The club will eventually expand to seven nights a week of live bands and DJs. Though Good Room has been hosting private preview parties since late October, they will officially open to the public this weekend with events on Thursday, Friday and Saturday that feature DKDS, DJ Spun and the Loose Control Band playing live. On November 28th, the club will host Joey Anderson, Nicuri and more at the Sound Theories label launch party, presented by Remedy and Oakland-based deep house collective, The Shuffle Co-op.
