- "There's a bit more dreamy tape wobble going on" says the LA producer of his next album for Kompakt.
Kompakt will release a new album by John Tejada called Signs Under Test in February 2015.
It's the Californian producer's third album for Kompakt, arriving two-and-a-half years after his most recent LP, The Predicting Machine. Since then he's released 12-inches for Kompakt, Slices Of Life and Palette Recordings—he also teamed up with Silent Servant to remix Psychic TV's "Alien Be-In" for Dark Entries.
"There's a bit more dreamy tape wobble going on throughout," says Tejada, "as I've gone quite analog tape with my delays and patches—on the verge of actually being broken, which gives them a nice character. I've tried to cut out distractions and really focus on the production. Everything is built from the ground up using hardware synths—mostly analog, but that's a bit annoying to say nowadays. It's not a record that fits in with any current stuff, but something that hopefully holds up as it ages. Something that hopefully reveals more on repeated listens."
The heavy-duty double-LP version of Signs Under Test comes bundled with a CD copy of the album. There will also be separate CD and digital versions. Listen to album cut "Y 0 Why" below.
