  • The 18th annual FreakNight was cut short after a drug-related death on Friday, October 31st. The festival, scheduled to run for two days, was cancelled by Wamu Theatre on the second day after reports of the death. Seattle NBC affiliate King 5 reported on the circumstances: "(Event organizers) USC Events became aware of this alleged incident just before 4 PM on Saturday. After discussing the situation with USC Events, (head of Wamu Theatre operations) CenturyLink Field decided to cancel the second night of the show just before 6 PM." Further details on the deceased have not been released, though it is known that the overdose victim died at the nearby Harborview Medical Center. Around 22,000 were expected to attend FreakNight, which offered free water. The lineup included Monty Luke and Art Department along with Carl Cox, Loco Dice and dozens of other acts. The Seattle Fire Department reported transporting 16 concertgoers to the hospital Friday evening. More than a dozen fans received medical care after a Skrillex concert in Chicago the weekend before.
